Justin Brown

Hometown: Littleton, CO
Major(s): Biology, Chemistry minor

From Littleton, Colorado Justin graduated from Columbine High School. At Augustana, Justin is majoring in Biology with a Chemistry minor and plans on attending medical school or possibly going into research after graduation. Justin is a defensive back for the Augustana football team and enjoys playing golf and tennis in his free time. The mountains are one of his favorite places whether it’s skiing in the winter or hiking in the summer. Being from Denver, Justin am a big Broncos and Nuggets fan and tries to go to games when he gets the chance. Justin's research project this summer involves the preparation of glucosinolates and the exploration of the new SYBYL-X Software.


Sarah Fisher

Hometown: Chamberlain, SD
Major(s): ACS Biochemistry

Returning as a senior ACS Biochemistry major, this is Sarah’s second summer with Dr. Mays. She is originally from the Deep South and enjoys hot weather, rock climbing, bike riding, and cooking. At Augustana, she is active within the chemistry department, international programs office, and Pueblo de Dios community. After graduation, Sarah plans on attending medical school.


John Klecker

Hometown: Hopkins, MN
Major(s): ACS Biochemistry

John is from the Twin Cities, graduated from Hopkins High School in 2012, and is currently an ACS biochemistry major at Augustana. John is also a member of the cross-country and track and field team at Augie. He plans to use his ACS biochemistry major to attend medical school or pursue a graduate program in biochemistry. In his spare time he enjoys yoga and excessive amounts of video games. John is also involved in Biology Club, Tri-Beta, Pre-Med club, and SMACS.


Ellen Voigt

Hometown: Rapid City, SD
Major(s): ACS Chemistry

Although Ellen was born and is currently residing in Rapid City SD, she grew up and spent most of her high school years in Texas. She will be a sophomore at Augustana in the fall where she is working on her major in ACS chemistry. What she will do with this major is still largely unknown, but she hopes to continue her graduate studies in chemistry. In her spare time Ellen enjoys playing clarinet in the band, swimming, reading, eating ethnic food and camping in South Dakota’s beautiful Custer State Park.
