THE ARTISTIC & CULTURAL LEGACY OF RUSSIA

3 weeks in Russia, from Moscow to St. Petersburg with stops along the Golden Ring cities in between

Course goals and objectives:  By the end of the course, students should be able to meet the following course objectives: 1) demonstrate an understanding of many factors involved in the creation of Russian artistic works, with special emphasis on how the culture of Russia influenced its art; 2) explain how Russian artistic masterpieces have influenced the work of Western countries, thus demonstrating an enhanced awareness of the global connections between Russia and other countries; and 3) describe the state of current artistic endeavors in Russia (theatrical, visual, musical and dance).
