MUSI 165 – Applied Piano (1 credit)

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The course includes thirteen private lessons, with the applied music exam counting as one lesson.  Non-music majors may sign up for 30-minute weekly lessons (MUSI 165A), and music majors sign up for 50-minute weekly lessons (MUSI 165AM).  Lessons include repertoire, technique, sight-reading, and performance based on the student’s unique needs and abilities. 

CLASS ASSIGNMENTS AND ACTIVITIES

Weekly lessons are in a private study environment.  Students also have the opportunity to participate in piano forums, master-classes, student recitals, collaborative settings (accompanying/ensemble) and to attend guest artist/faculty recitals and lectures.  All students perform on a final applied music exam or recital.
