Yrene is my compañera de alma, soulmate and lovely wife. We were married in the mountians of Colorado in 2003. This is a photograph I took on our honeymoon very close to the bay where little Jackie Paper sailed around with the magic Puff.
I am a third-generation Augie grad. My mother attended Augustana at the same time as one of my art professors, Bob Aldern. My grandmother attended the Normal School which was located in Old Main. At that time the railroad ran from Viborg to Sioux Falls, and my grandmother came with a suitcase in hand to the big city for the first time. When she arrived downtown at the train station, she had no idea in which direction was Augustana.
I was lucky to have studied at Augustana at a time when Palmer Eide and Ogden Dalrymple were Emeritus Professors and sculpting in a studio in Art Building 3, adjacent to where I painted. When students study with me now, I feel like I am able to pass down three generations of experience in art at Augustana.
